Brilliant article—and a perspective that’s sorely missing from most conversations around AI:
“Finally, there is the third approach that I believe, is to teach people conceptual models that evolve over generations of builders.”
In my own work with AI, I constantly find myself resetting my knowledge to the right layer of abstraction—so I can reason from principles rather than follow a rigid process. That work is hard, but the payoff is immense.
As a “newbie” and in the process of understanding my gifts while having a learning disability, I appreciate this article greatly but I am also asking, why is there no mentor program for learning to code correctly for people thrown in to this with no knowledge of what is happening in their head.
I think knowledge stuck in people's heads and not passed down is the most existential problem right now. Sadly, I think most mentorship programs, though well-intended, don't go beyond the surface of things. I am also hopeful as I'm seeing a lot of experienced people opening up studios and offering deep mentorship.
